ASUS VivoBook S15 OLED test: a laptop that puts a lot on its screen

With its Core i5 Tiger Lake, the VivoBook S15 obtains a performance index of 78, which places it above the surface Pro 8 and its core i7-1185g7.It is equal to the AMD Ryzen 5 5500U processor of the ZenBook 13 (UM325) which obtains the same performance index.

We have also briefly evaluated the performances involved in the integrated graphic part on the processor, the IRIS XE and its 80 execution units.Under Diablo 3 with all the details thoroughly in Full HD, the ris xe is struggling to reach 28 i/s.Under Overwatch with all the details at least, still in full HD, we barely get 30 i/s.

A word on the on-board SSD: Asus A, it seems, found old stocks since it is an SSD Intel 660p of 512 GB released in 2018 which is installed-a memory model QLC.In practice, the flows are 1.6 GB/s in reading and 972 MB/s in writing. There is a fall in speeds at 51.5 MB/s as soon as the SLC cache of the SSD is saturated. This is not a problem in the context of office use.On the other hand, it quickly becomes limiting if you handle several dozen data gigabytes in a frequent manner.
