How to watch TF1 despite the cut of Canal and TNTSat?

Do you want to watch Jean-Pierre Pernaut's diary, the adventures of Joséphine Ange Gardien, The Voice or the next concert of Les Enfoirés? But problem, you face a black screen. On March 1, 2018, Canal decided to cut off the broadcast of the free channels of the TF1 group (TF1, TMC, TFX, TF1 Séries Films and LCI) to its satellite, ADSL and TNTSat subscribers. Nearly 5.8 million households are affected by this lack of distribution.

A financial conflict between TF1 and Canal +

Behind this cut, hides a standoff between the TF1 group and the Canal + group. The first requires to be paid by the second for the broadcasting of its free channels, and their replays. The amount requested by the TF1 group would amount to around twenty million euros per year. Canal + does not wish to pay this sum, and has summoned the TF1 Group before the Paris Commercial Court to contest this claim.

In the meantime, the TF1 tower can shake. The flagship channel lost almost 11% of its audience on Saturday March 3. The group is also in discussion with the operators Free and Orange. However, his channels have not been cut on these networks, but for how long?

Comment regarder TF1 malgré la coupure de Canal et TNTSat ?

If you are concerned, here are some solutions to continue watching the programs of the TF1 group:

1. Take out your DTT antenna

Buy or reuse a DTT antenna, or plug into a TV wall socket. You can also get a small indoor TNT antenna. These devices connect directly to your television (if it is less than 10 years old), or to an internet box equipped with a TNT tuner. If your television is too old, you can buy a TNT HD decoder. It is sold in shops from around thirty euros. Access to the replay of programs is however impossible via DTT.

2. Get a Fransat decoder

If you do not receive terrestrial DTT, buy a decoder (sold between 70 and 150 euros) and a card compatible with the operator Fransat, the direct competitor of TNTSat (Canal + group). It resumes without subscription and by satellite all the DTT channels, including those of the TF1 group. However, Fransat uses a different satellite from TNTSat. A reorientation of your dish, or the purchase of a new head may therefore be necessary.

3. Watch TF1 on computer, mobile and tablet

You can also go to the myTF1.fr website, and the mobile applications of the same name (Android and iOS). A free subscription is necessary to view TF1 channels. But be careful not to blow up your mobile plan (3G/4G) if it is limited: watching videos consumes a lot of data.

There is also the Molotov TV application (Android or iOS). It gives free access to all DTT channels. This service is even already pre-installed on certain televisions connected to the Internet.

4. Buy a Chromecast stick

You can also get a multimedia key like Chromecast (sold for 35 euros), or Apple TV (135 euros). Connected to the HDMI socket of your television, it allows you to watch many content available on the Internet (YouTube, Netflix, replays), including the Molotov application, on its televisions.
