In Germany: what does 3G, 3G+, 2G and 2G+ mean?

In front of most German public places, you will see letters registered in very large.

In Germany, there is not only one kind of health pass...But 4.

By indicating these letters, the establishment tells you what it expects from you to let you enter!

We take stock.

3G

The most common indication is 3G or GGG.

3G means "Geimpt, Geteste, Gennesen".vaccinated or healed or tested.

This is our French health pass ...

To enter this place, you must be either vaccinated or be cured of the covid, or have a negative test (regardless of the test, PCR or antigenic).

For the Sarrebrücken Christmas market, it is this rule that applies but the test must date from less than 24 hours for those who will only have that to present.

En Allemagne : ça veut dire quoi 3G, 3G+, 2G et 2G+ ?

If you go to Strasbourg and take the tram to go to Kehl in Germany: it is the 3G rule that applies since in the Baden-Wurtenberg, the 3G pass is compulsory in public transport but it is notnot the case in the German regions neighboring the Moselle.

3G+

If you see a 3G+, nothing changes except that only a PCR test is accepted for the test part.

2G

To enter an establishment which displays 2G: it is necessary either a proof of vaccination, or a proof that you are cured of the COVVID (therefore a positive test of more than 11 days and less than 6 months).

The test alone is not enough to enter a 2G establishment.

It is this rule that applies in practically all public places of Sarre and Rhineland-Palatinate.

2G+

If you see a 2G+ then it is vaccination or proof of healing ... and in addition, a negative PCR test or an antigenic of less than 24 hours.

In Saar, it's about night boxes ... and that's about everything.

In Rhineland-Palatinate, the rule applies for Christmas markets: beware, do one more test, if you go to Trier or PirmaSens, for example, even if you are vaccinated.

And to go shopping in Germany?

To get into stores, you don't need anything!

Wearing the mask is mandatory on the other hand (a real mask, not those in fabrics) and it is necessary to respect a distance of 1.5m with other customers.

In other words, in the wonderful world of DM, Rewe, Rossman, Real, Kaufland, Karstadt...Nothing changes and you can come as you are!
