For a few days, Samsung has announced that the deployment of Android 6.0 Marshmallow had sTarted on the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.Unfortunately, this is progressive and everyone does not yet take advantage of it, especially since if you have bought your smartphone through an operator, you will have to wait until the latter decides to push the update. If this is your case, it might be time to consider flashing this new firmware yourself to take advantage of the latest innovations of Android. This is how to do it!

Before you sTart anything, it is important to know that this manipulation is not without risk and can make your phone unusable or some of its features. If you are not ready to take this risk, as minimal as it is (as long as you have access to the Download mode, it is almost always possible to reinstall a clean ROM), prefer to wait for the natural update of the phone. In addition, it is advisable to save all your data beforehand (SMS, photos, applications, etc..) to be sure not to lose any sensitive element.

The necessary

Before you sTart, it is important to have all the tools at hand. For this manipulation you will therefore need:

For users of Mac OS and Linux, Odin can be replaced by Jodin3 or Heimdall. If you do not know the exact model of your phone, you will find the reference in the "A device" section of the settings.

The preparation

To sTart, decompress the archives of Odin and your firmware.Depending on the choice you have made (Rom Stock or Rom Full), you will get one or more files in format.Tar.MD5.Anyway, the result will be the same.

Once the files are discharged, turn off your phone, then resTart it in Download mode, leaving the Power, Low Volume and Home keys..A warning screen will then appear, asking you to press high volume to continue.

Once this formality has been carried out, you will then come face to face with the Download (or Odin Mode) mode, represented by an arrow on a blue background. If at this stage you change your mind, you can turn off your phone by pressing all the buttons on your phone at the same time (high and low volume, power, and home) and keeping them in a few seconds.

We will nevertheless sTart from the principle that you want to go to the end of the manipulation. So launch Odin (Odin3 V3.10.7.1.EX) and connect your phone to the computer. Une case du logiciel devrait alors s’allumer en bleu, affichant le numéro du port USB sur lequel est branché l’appareil, et le message « <0> Added!! » devrait apparaître.0>

If this is not the case, check that the drivers of your phone are well installed on your computer (just plug the phone into the PC, but you can find them on the Samsung website). Finally, it should be noted that certain USB ports on the front are incompatible and that it may be necessary to connect the phone to the back of its tower. In the event of a problem, do not hesitate to try several USB ports.

The phone is well recognized.

Manipulation

If your phone is properly recognized, you can then fill the appropriate boxes.First, in the option tab, check that the reboot and f auto boxes.Reset Time are checked, but that the re-participation box is well detailed. Then, if you have opted for the Rom Stock version, you should only have one file.Tar.MD5 qu’il vous faut ajouter à Odin en cliquant sur le bouton AP.A few seconds/minutes may be necessary for the proper realization of this step.Don't be impatient!

NB: If you have opted for the Full Rom, each file.Tar.MD5 doit être ajouté de la sorte dans la case correspondante. Each of the four files starts with the two letters relating to an Odin button (BL, AP, CP and CSC), you should not be able to be wrong.

Cliquez alors sur le bouton STart et attendez que la barre de chargement arrive à son terme sans redémarrer le PC ni le téléphone, et sans débrancher ce dernier. At the end, the phone will restart by itself and require a few additional minutes of installation. If the first start is a bit long, don't be afraid, it's normal.

Le bouton sTart et la barre de chargement sur le flash d’une ROM FULL.

After a restart and if necessary a reparation of the phone, a small tour in software will confirm what you have already noticed in the color of the notification bar: your Galaxy S6 (or S6 Edge) is now under Android 6.0.March 1mmallow.For those who like things well done, the best is to go to the settings, then to save and reset to reset all the data.

This step is not compulsory and should not even be necessary in the event of flash of a full ROM, but very often makes it possible to remove the last residues from an old installation, and therefore to avoid the conflicts and bugs that canMeet certain applications.
