Artificial intelligence to help with hiring and retention Subscribe to the e-newsletter

Anyone who has ever hired staff has had a great time… and sometimes made some big mistakes too. Good decisions are nevertheless crucial in the context of a labor shortage, but the fact remains that hiring is anything but an exact science and that instinct has a lot to do with it.

Professor Belkacem Chikhaoui intends to bring order to chaos by putting artificial intelligence (AI) to work. The researcher from the Science and Technology Department of TÉLUQ University and scientific director of the LICEF Research Institute, has just been awarded a grant of $200,000 over two years by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

He will thus be able to push his research project bearing the title: Development of an innovative platform based on skills and artificial intelligence to support talent management.

The objective of this project is to design an artificial intelligence platform to support companies in their talent management strategies. To do this, this skills-based platform will exploit big data and use recommendation models.

"In the context of a major labor shortage and the difficulty in recruiting it, his research work will prove to be relevant both in terms of talent management and the contribution of research in artificial intelligence," said said Lucie Laflamme, Executive Director of TÉLUQ University, about Mr. Chikhaoui.

The latter believes for his part that the grant “will make it possible to develop new efficient artificial intelligence algorithms applied to multimodal and massive data to produce recommendations. These algorithms will solve real problems encountered in the field of skills management and talent acquisition. »

Using the platform could enable companies to make smarter hiring and talent management decisions, increase reskilling and employee retention with dynamic, interactive and actionable information, TÉLUQ adds in a press release. .
