What do we want for our end of life? What are the ethical challenges of the contribution of artificial intelligence in supporting end of life? What place will it remain for humans and support?

So many questions, and many others, to which Éric Fiat, professor in moral philosophy and medical ethics at Gustave-Eiffel University, of Paris, answered in his conference on September 23, at the Palais des Congrès de Béziersby the ASP Ouest-Hérault to mark the 20 years of existence of the Association for the Development of Palliative Care.

This one, chaired by Éliane Schwartz, had focused the event on the theme of ""Artificial intelligence and end of life: the support of tomorrow?"", Developed by the speaker.

""Vigilant attention""

""New technologies that require extremely vigilant attention to the ethical values that base society and on the ethics of health professionals"", as Eric Fiat said in his conference.

This succeeded the presentation of the history of ASP Béziers Hérault, created in 2000, which became ASP Ouest-Hérault in 2015.

""ASP's mission is to support sick and suffering, especially in palliative care, where they live: hospital, home, health or medico-social establishment, in order to provide them with moral well-being and theSupport in the test of illness, great age, death and mourning, for families, ""recalled the territorial president.

One of the great moments of emotion was that of testimonies, especially families, who followed the introduction. The day ended with a debate, in the presence of Véronique Mounié-Oziol, a palliative care doctor at the Béziers hospital, where she runs the ethics committee, and Yan Diehr, a referring doctor for palliative care at theSaint-Privat de Boujan clinic.

His testimony makes it possible to understand, not to pass judgment on relatives.Speaking of his mother, elderly, hospitalized, at the end of his life.

""Telling your life to an unknown, creating a link with a foreigner was for me, we can no longer untie because humiliating. It was indeed admitted that the company of someone outside the family could be necessary for mom, could even do him good;It was to recognize that you could need others, that you were not enough for yourself. "" ""Geneviève a apporté à Maman le baume sans prix d’une existence recouvrée, restaurée, apaisée.She adapted to the person she met, has been able to slip into the implicit structure of this life [...] ""
