Topaz Video Enhance AI: Enlarge your videos up to 8K thanks to machine learning

Increasing the definition of a video is far from easy. To circumvent this difficulty, Topaz Labs recently launched Video Enhance AI, a new tool using artificial intelligence to restore your videos with what is called upscaling.

AI at the service of your videos

Like DeNoise AI or Sharpen AI, Video Enhance AI is a tool developed by the Texas publisher Topaz Labs. Like Gigapixel AI, it aims to enlarge your images losslessly. But as the name suggests, Video Enhance AI is not for photos, but for videos.

In practice, the software uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to (re)create missing pixels and extrapolate image details to generate ultra-fine video. According to Topaz Labs, the software's algorithms would thus be able to restore images in their smallest details, including on very poorly defined files.

According to its publisher, the software must be able to increase the resolution of a video by 600%, making it possible to resample a video in standard definition (720 x 480 pixels) to a 4K definition (3840 x 2160 pixels). Or to increase a sequence in HD (1280 x 720 pixels) by propelling it to 8K (7680 x 4320 pixels).

Ideal for restoring your old family videos, but also for significantly increasing the quality of your rushes captured in 4K – or even for zooming inside a video without losing quality.

Two options allow you to reduce the presence of digital noise in images, but also to remove the square-shaped digital artifacts that often appear in the dark areas of low quality videos.

Finally, a batch processing mode allows the resampling of several videos in stride with the same settings.

Video Enhance AI Pricing, Availability, and Compatibility

Video Enhance AI is available now from Topaz Labs for $299.99 for Windows and macOS. A full trial version, valid for 30 days, is offered by the publisher.

The software is available as a perpetual license and does not require a subscription.

As you might expect, Video Enhance AI requires a lot of computing power to operate, especially at the graphics card level. The publisher recommends the use of a PC under Windows 10 equipped with at least an Nvidia GTX 1080 graphics card with 4 GB of video memory.

The Mac version is more restricted because the vast majority of Apple machines are not equipped with a dedicated graphics card and use the graphics chip integrated into the processor. So, according to Topaz, processing is likely to be 5 times slower than on a computer with an Nvidia graphics card.

Our first review of Video Enhance AI

This new software from Topaz Labs looks promising and should prove very useful in specific cases where you want to restore your videos to a higher quality.

Of course, this software requires a (very) powerful machine to function optimally, but the initiative of the Texan publisher shows the possibilities offered by artificial intelligence for the improvement of old and/or little videos. defined.

In this regard, let us mention that the software was recently brought to light by the YouTuber Denis Shiryaev, who managed to restore in 4K the film The Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat Station, a silent film directed by Louis Light in 1895.
