United States: An artificial intelligence can now summarize a book in a few lines

The company OpenAI presented on September 23 a new possible use of its text generation system by artificial intelligence (AI) GPT-3, reports VentureBeat, relayed by Presse-Citron this Sunday. This is a model for automatically creating the summary of a book, regardless of the length of the book, can we read on the company's blog.

To achieve this task, the AI developed by OpenAI begins by summarizing the book section by section. Then, it produces a synthesis of these various partial summaries. It is this approach to the problem, by "recursive decomposition of tasks", which allows the tool of American society to be able to summarize a book regardless of its length. It is also possible to configure the system to have a more or less long summary, or with more or less detail.

A technology studied by Google, Microsoft or Facebook

In their announcement, OpenAI claimed that their AI model was able to generate summaries sometimes reaching the level of "an average quality summary written by a human. However, many problems remain to be solved. The new system would, for example, tend to generate lists of events without internal consistency.
